Gull Lake area is brewing up good times and great memories for your next visit! But did you know the area is also brewing up home-grown spirits to add to your vacation enjoyment?

When vacationing on Gull Lake, you may be looking for the perfect spot to kick back and relax with a beer in hand. A variety of area craft breweries are favorite hot spots for locals and visitors alike. Each with its own vibe and specialty, they share in the art of infusing chemistry and creativity to produce some seriously tasty concoctions. These are just a few of the many options…

Big Axe Brewing Company:Nisswa

Big Axe Brewing located in downtown Nisswa is a local brew pub that turns heads with incredible handcrafted beers and a full kitchen. The perfect place to catch up with friends or unwind at the end of a day on the lake, Big Axe offers a fun, relaxing environment where the food is tasty and the beer is cold.

In addition to the full-flavored, freshly crafted brews, Big Axe boasts house-made root beer and cream soda, too. Special release beers such as the Bourbon Bean Stout and Peanut Butter Stout frequently rotate on the menu. Patrons can even take a growler back to their vacation rental!

Enjoy delicious soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches, plus a kids’ menu for the little ones to choose from. Enjoy your meal indoors or relax on the patio – and pups are welcome, as long as they are on a leash.

Jack Pine Brewery::Baxter

After 12 years of winning beer competitions, earning beer judging certifications, and lots and lots of homebrewing, in 2013 Patrick Sundberg opened a nanobrewery making 100 gallons of beer at a time. But you can’t keep a good brewer down, and in 2017, Jack Pine Brewery opened its new taproom to the Brainerd Lakes area.

Jack Pine’s goal is to craft a quality brew across a wide spectrum of flavors. From light to dark, malty to hoppy, and even an award-winning pepper beer to spice things up, there’s something for everyone. Beer novices and connoisseurs alike might be surprised with a well-made style outside their typical realm of favorites.

The brewery is pet friendly (on the patio), kid friendly (with games and sodas), and food friendly with a regular roundtable of food trucks that frequent the parking lot. Jack Pine also has space to rent for events and hosts lots of regular ones, too, including live music, yoga, painting, trivia and fundraisers.

Roundhouse Brewery: Nisswa

Nisswa’s Roundhouse Brewery crafts amazing beers in a unique setting. Starting with the highest quality ingredients and a passion for the pursuit of an exceptional pint, the pub aims to brew and distribute unsurpassed beer to the Brainerd Lakes area and beyond.

Roundhouse’s large taproom recently added “the Platform,” an elevated seating mezzanine that gives a bird’s eye view of the whole bar. Ample outdoor seating welcomes furry companions and is accented with umbrellas, patio lighting and fire pits. While Roundhouse doesn’t serve food, bring-your-own and deliveries are welcome.

What makes Roundhouse cutting edge? Well, it’s The Wreck Room, of course. This family-friendly axe-throwing space and rec lounge is open weekends and features an axe-throwing coach who doubles as a beertender! No experience is necessary to learn axe-throwing games and have a good time.
